More than you were asking for, and I might have more yet but these are just my initial thoughts!Ĭan't wait for the game though, my ideas are ambitious I know!
European ship simulator storm simulator#
Games like Euro Truck Simulator are good examples. In-fact I'm very sad flight simulator doesn't support this, it looks great. It'd be awesome if this was replicated in the game, no ship simulator I know of supports this. Sometimes in stormy conditions you get a lot of spray, especially on ships where the bridge deck is lower. I'm not sure how doable that is, I'm no game developer but it's just additional realism. Here's something I very much doubt you'll have in-place, and it'd be an awesome extra which many simulators of all types do not support. Here's a brilliant example of how I enjoy watching the bow ().
European ship simulator storm windows#
I would love to be able to watch out of the windows which have some level of detail, perhaps wipers on the outside. Now in many games, they block you from doing this because the camera (head height) appears too low. At the windows, looking down at the bow of my ship and watching the waves splash by. When I play ship simulators, I enjoy standing as I would when on watch. In this picture I'm not too fussed about the controls on the bridge, more the windows. I don't recall seeing any interior pictures of larger ships (like the cargo ship) yet, but I am hoping they don't feel too bland and again, provide plenty of immersion. Ship bridges again can feel very bland in games to me. The wave effects are nice in this picture, but it's reality and I am not sure how much this is replicated (bow splashes) in your game, but a little visible bow splash would be awesome too. If we could walk from the bridge to hear (and perhaps through corridors as mentioned above), take my money 10x over.

This type of view point (can be achieved with free walk) would be so amazing for me. It adds immersion, and makes the deck feel less bland. Take a look here () the bow of this ship has ropes and various other objects. From what I saw of the preview pictures on the Steam page and from the videos you uploaded, the ships don't look bad at all, and maybe these have now been improved upon. The exterior of ships I think can be bland at times. I think it'd be nice if you could adjust the FOV. Also, again I'm not sure how much of this is already completed, but I find the preset FOV on some games makes me feel ill when walking around. Perhaps a shift modifier to allow for sprinting if you'd like to get somewhere faster. Many simulators that allow 1st person cameras feel very slow or badly created. If first person free walk is added, this should feel fluid. Again, it creates more immersion and makes me feel like I'm walking around, rather than just a floating camera. I loved this in a Ship Sim released several years back. I also commented somewhere previously about footsteps when walking. Also, as we get closer to the waves (either by being on deck or if in the 3rd person camera), perhaps we can hear the waves more loudly, not sure how much of this has already been added. If there are some nice ambient sounds, birds, wind etc, that would increase the immersion for me, as opposed to having the sound of just a ship's engine. I'm not suggesting you create every single little room, just the hallways to get to specific decks, it'd make the ship feel much more realistic to me, rather than just being able to go from the bridge to the outside deck. It'd be nice if we could walk through some fairly nice looking hallways (see here: ) to get there. Let's say I'm on the bridge deck and I want to get to the bow or stern (outside). The fact you state players will be able to design their own ships might come into play here, but at some point (whether in the initial release or in a future update), it'd be nice to have hallway interiors. I hope you don't mind, but I'd like to outline several things that would make this game truly the best ship simulator imaginable.įirstly, interiors are something many sims lack IMO.
